Bella Acapella, the international gender-inclusive chorus based in the Algarve, has returned from its first appearance on an international stage at a convention in Helsingborg, Sweden.
”The audience loved us and we had a good score with room for improvement,” the group – made up of 29 singers and their musical director – says in a statement, adding that the experience as the new step on their musical journey. The singers described the weekend as “fabulous,” with plenty of singing both on and off stage, and highlighted the strong sense of connection that developed among members during the trip.
A short video documenting their experience in Sweden, titled ‘Bella Acapella goes to Sweden’, has been shared online and can be viewed on YouTube.
With summer approaching, the chorus is winding down from the convention while preparing for a packed schedule in the autumn. Several international collaborations and performances are already planned.
On October 4 and 5, Bella Acapella will host The Skyline Sisters, a 42-member all-women barbershop chorus from Rotterdam, for two joint concerts. The combined group will bring more than 70 singers together on stage.
Later that month, on October 25 and 26, the group will travel to Faro for two performances at the Chorus Fest, an annual event hosted by the Portuguese choir Grupo Coral Ossonoba.
Lastly, in early December, Bella Acapella is also planning a series of Christmas shows. Details will be announced on their social media channels in the coming months.
”We will keep you updated as the fall comes along, with dates, places and times, but until then we wish you all a very lovely summer wherever you spend it.”
