An online project to promote the council of Lagoa and its “secret beaches” is celebrating its first anniversary this month.
The website, visitLagoa.info, was created by Lagoa’s cultural association Ideias do Levante, in association with Crowntek and Estorninho.biz.
Roberto Estorninho, the man at the helm of this project, describes the Lagoa municipality as one of the “most beautiful” in the Algarve and invites everyone to explore it with the assistance of visitLagoa.info, where beaches and their unusual rock formations and coves, local businesses and other attractions are listed.
“We aim to bring the local community and businesses together in this project,” he said. “We still have a long way to go, but the first steps have been taken.”
Roberto spent a year photographing and identifying around 54 beaches in the Lagoa council, with the help of local fishermen, farmers, environmental engineers and documentation listing the most inaccessible beaches in the area along with their almost forgotten names.
visitLagoa.info, aided by a Facebook page (visitlagoa.info), has so far received a total of five million visits by web users from all corners of the world. The project is supported by Lagoa Câmara and parish council.
