Golfers In The Sun tee off at Ombria for June tournament

GITS help raise funds for Santa Barbara Animal Help amongst other charities

The popular Golfers In The Sun (GITS) group held their June tournament at the Ombria Golf Course near Loulé, bringing together golfers of all levels for a fantastic day on “one of the Algarve’s most scenic and challenging courses.”

“With its rolling hills and immaculate fairways, Ombria provided the perfect backdrop for competitive but friendly golf. Despite the summer heat, players were in high spirits, many experiencing this spectacular course for the first time,” the group said.

The format for the day was pairs Stableford, with prizes awarded for the best combined scores and nearest the pin. “Congratulations to Susan Martin and Chris Cameron Gudge, who secured first place with a brilliant team performance. Ian Cotgrave and David Elsworthy came a very close second. Peter Box won nearest the pin on the 5th hole.”

A delicious evening meal held at Cin Cin Itália, Almancil, was attended by around 30 hungry diners and helped to boost the charity donation to €230, the group added.

“GITS continues to host enjoyable, social tournaments across the Algarve, giving golfers the opportunity to meet new people, explore different courses, enjoy friendly competition, and help raise funds for Santa Barbara Animal Help amongst other charities. With its welcoming atmosphere and events suited to all abilities, it’s no surprise the group continues to grow.”

The next GITS event will be held on Sunday, July 27 at Morgado Golf Course.
