Vilamoura has been named the top choice for premium golf holidays in the Algarve, according to new data from UK-based Glencor Golf Holidays.
The analysis shows that trips to Vilamoura have the highest average booking value in the region, pointing to growing demand from UK golfers for high-end courses and quality accommodation.
“The Algarve has long been one of Europe’s most popular golf destinations, but Vilamoura continues to stand out thanks to its concentration of championship courses and high-end resorts,” the golf holiday company says in a statement.
To assess the region, Glencor created a “Glencor Score”, combining factors such as hotel star ratings, TripAdvisor reviews, Top 100 Courses rankings and Leading Courses ratings.
Vilamoura scored 4.1 out of 5 for both its golf courses and hotels, “confirming its reputation as one of Europe’s premier golf resorts”.
Among its best-known layouts is the Old Course Vilamoura, which achieved a combined score of 4.4 based on multiple rankings. Other key courses include the Millennium Golf Course, Laguna Golf Course and The Els Club Vilamoura, the company says.

Accommodation is also a major factor behind the resort’s appeal. The Vilamoura Garden Hotel and Hilton Vilamoura are among the higher-rated options, alongside other popular stays such as Dom Pedro Portobelo, Hyatt Regency and Victoria.
“Vilamoura golf holidays consistently deliver the full premium experience,” says Corrie Renton, Co-Director of Glencor Golf Holidays. “Visitors have access to a collection of exceptional courses, a wide range of high-quality hotels, and everything is close together, which makes it incredibly convenient for golfers”.
“What we’re seeing from our customers is a shift towards fewer trips, but better trips. Golfers want to make the most of their time away, and destinations like Vilamoura that offer guaranteed quality across courses and accommodation are becoming the obvious choice,” he adds.
This trend towards fewer but higher-quality golf breaks is becoming “increasingly clear in booking patterns,” according to the golf holiday operator. “Rather than taking multiple shorter trips, many golfers are opting to invest in a premium experience”.
