All districts of mainland Portugal will be under a yellow warning on Tuesday due to the forecast of rain, sometimes heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms, IPMA meteorological institute warns.
The Algarve (Faro disrict) and districts of Évora, Setúbal and Beja are already under yellow warnings due to the forecast of showers, sometimes heavy and accompanied by thunderstorms from midday(ish).
Tomorrow, the 18 mainland districts will be under yellow warning, from midday again.
IPMA has also issued yellow warnings for strong winds with gusts of up to 75 kms per hour for the south coast of Madeira for most of tomorrow, and up to 100 kms per hour for mountainous regions.
For the central group of the Azores (S. Jorge, Faial, Pico, Terceira and Graciosa), weather is already bad, as it is in the eastern group (São Miguel and Santa Maria).
Yellow warnings are the least serious on a scale of three, and issued whenever there is a risk situation for certain activities dependent on the weather.
As many in the Algarve are already aware, the ‘bad weather’ forecast has yet to really show itself.
