On a day marked by the latest expletive peppered social media post from the leader of the free world, Arab media channel Al Jazeera reported that a Portuguese-flagged oil tanker has been allowed to pass, unchallenged, through the Strait of Hormuz.
With thousands of tankers backed up and unable to pass for fear of Iranian attacks, this vessel – the Ocean Thunder – was described by the news outlet as flying the Portuguese flag. But it turns out that it isn’t: the Ocean Thunder is currently flying the Panamanian flag, and has flown Greek, Liberian, Maltese, Norwegian and even Marshall Islands flags before. But never Portuguese.
According to Marine Traffic, the Ocean Thunder is currently in the Gulf of Oman, en-route with a million barrels of crude, to Malaysia.
The oil it is carrying is from Iraq, which has already ‘thanked’ the Iranian regime for allowing it through the troubled Strait.
Meantime, President Trump’s latest post – released on his official Truth Social page – has threatened: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F****in’ Strait, you crazy b******s, or you’ll be living in Hell – JUST WATCH!”
The United States commander-in-chief ended his post with the words: “Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP”
