This month, we’d like to shine a light on the local businesses who support Cadela Carlota – not just once, but continuously. Their steady, practical help plays a vital role in our work, and we are truly grateful.
A perfect example is Cafetaria do Mercado in Bensafrim. One of our many collection tins lives on their counter, and when we recently stopped by to empty it, we were thrilled to find it held €182.85. That’s enough to cover vet checks, vaccinations, or food for several of our dogs. It’s a great reminder that small gestures – a few coins here and there – really do add up.
We’re also incredibly lucky to have long-standing support from Beats and Burritos in Lagos. Caroline, the owner, has backed us for years and is always coming up with ways to help. A collection tin is a permanent fixture at the bar, and our flyers are not only on display but even included with takeaway orders – Caroline’s idea, of course!
While their recent anniversary celebration wasn’t a fundraising event, they invited us along to join in the fun – and to bring a few of our dogs. Becca, Panda, Mabel, and Canela had a brilliant afternoon meeting people, getting cuddles, and enjoying the attention. These community moments matter. They help our dogs build confidence, and they help the public get to know who we are.
A big thank you to all the volunteers who gave their time on the day – and to every business that hosts a tin or shares our flyers. We couldn’t do this without you.
If you run a local café, shop or bar and would like to get involved, we’d love to hear from you. Whether it’s placing a collection box, hosting a poster, or inviting us to an event, it all helps.
