Proving just how important every vote can be, Loulé provided the closest race of the night in the Algarve.
Socialist (PS) candidate Telmo Pinto won the local election in Loulé by just 79 votes, with a total of 38.12% (11,836 votes), against the right-wing coalition of PSD-CDS-IL, headed by Hélder Martins, president of Algarve hoteliers’ association AHETA, with 37.86% (11,757).
CHEGA was a distant third, receiving 17.74% (5,509) – enough for one councillor, however, while PS and PSD-CDS-IL will have four each.
