Mystery donor ‘saves’ Maddie suspect from further time behind bars

Christian Brückner set to leave jail in Germany mid-September

A mystery donor has paid the traffic fines that were threatening to keep ‘Maddie suspect’ Christian Brückner behind bars beyond the term of his current sentence.

As a result, the 48-year-old named by German prosecutors as the man responsible for the disappearance of Madeleine McCann from a holiday apartment in Praia da Luz in 2007, could be freed mid-September (date being given is September 17).

The only way prosecutors who insist on his guilt could stop the release is if they are able to accuse him of ‘new crimes’ – or conceivably come up with the ‘evidence’ that they have been looking for since announcing their theory five years ago.

Brückner meantime has further denied any involvement in the disappearance of Madeleine McCann. Defence lawyer Friedrich Fülscher has described prosecutors’ case against Brückner as “built from the worst witness you could get”.
