Thank you for 2025 – and Russell’s hope for a forever home in 2026

One dog who especially deserves a fresh start this year is Russell

As we step into 2026, we would like to begin the year by saying a heartfelt ‘thank you’ to everyone who supported Cadela Carlota (Lagos) throughout 2025. Our staff, volunteers and local partners once again showed extraordinary dedication, kindness and teamwork.

Every dog walked, kennel cleaned, fundraiser supported and hour volunteered made a genuine difference, and we are deeply grateful to everyone who played a part in helping us continue our work.

For those considering volunteering in 2026, we would love to welcome you. Our winter opening hours are now in place, and while we are open on selected weekdays, weekends remain the best time for new volunteers to come along. Saturdays and Sundays allow you to learn the ropes properly, with staff available to guide you, answer questions and help you feel confident and supported from day one.

Our current winter opening hours are as follows:

Monday: Closed
Tuesday: 9am–12.30pm
Wednesday: Closed
Thursday: 9am–12.30pm
Friday: Closed
Saturday: 9am–12.30pm
Sunday: 9am–12.30pm

One dog who especially deserves a fresh start this year is Russell. His story is bittersweet but full of hope. Russell was adopted from our association when he was still a baby and spent four happy years in a home. Sadly, in April 2022, he was returned to us following the death of his owner’s husband, which meant a move to accommodation where dogs were not allowed. Through no fault of his own, Russell found himself back at the shelter.

Now seven years old, Russell is a beautiful dog – gentle, affectionate, obedient and always in a good mood. He is the kind of dog many of us dream of having at home. Playful, loving and eager to please, he brings warmth wherever he goes.

Russell is very people-focused and thrives on affection. He gets along well with other dogs but does not enjoy being alone and needs plenty of attention and companionship.

As we begin 2026, our greatest wish is to see Russell back where he belongs – in a loving family home, surrounded by care, comfort and stability once again.
