Thank you, from all of us at Cadela Carlota

Geoff moved to the shelter after his owner passed away

At Cadela Carlota, we are constantly reminded of the generosity of our community. Every act of kindness – big or small – helps us continue our mission of caring for abandoned dogs and cats, and finding them loving homes. This week, we’d like to share two stories that capture that spirit of support and friendship.

Last week, our charity shop in Lagos was sadly the target of vandalism. One of the glass panels on our door was shattered, leaving the shop exposed and repairs urgently needed. Such an unexpected cost could have meant diverting vital funds away from food, medicines, and care for our animals. But thanks to the incredible team at Vidreira Candeias, the problem was solved immediately.

They not only came to our aid at once but generously donated both the replacement glass and the installation service. Their swift action and kindness turned a difficult moment into a reminder of how fortunate we are to live in such a supportive community. We cannot thank them enough!

Meanwhile, in Silves, another act of kindness took centre stage – this time involving a very special cat. Meet Geoff, a five-year-old who came to us after his beloved owner passed away.

Geoff has settled into life at the shelter with quiet dignity, sometimes affectionate and cuddly, sometimes keeping his regal distance. Recently, he stole the show at a yoga-with-cats session at Moodz Spa & Resort, organised by our dear friend Nadine. As mats were rolled out and participants breathed deeply, Geoff demonstrated the true spirit of a cat yogi: doing exactly what he wanted, with perfect poise. He was a star, and his presence reminded everyone how healing the bond with animals can be.

We are so grateful to Nadine and the team at Moodz for welcoming us so warmly, and for showing how yoga with cats (and puppies, too!) can raise both smiles and awareness. Events like these not only bring joy but also highlight the many wonderful animals waiting for homes.

From a repaired shop door in Lagos to a yoga mat in Silves, our community continues to lift us up. To every supporter, volunteer, and friend – thank you. You make it possible.
