Vila Vita Biergarten in Porches is holding its “Austrian Weeks”, featuring a special menu that celebrates some of the most iconic recipes of that country’s culinary tradition.
Until April 1, the restaurant invites visitors on an authentic gastronomic journey inspired by the flavours of the Alps, to discover classics such as Wiener Backhendl or Tiroler Gröstl.
Known for its relaxed atmosphere that recreates the spirit of traditional Bavarian taverns, the Biergarten presents a menu dedicated to the dining traditions of this Alpine country, with typical dishes paired with a selection of German beers.
Classic recipes include Wiener Backhendl (breaded chicken served with potato salad and lamb’s lettuce) and Tiroler Gröstl (a rustic combination of sautéed potatoes with veal, bacon and a fried egg), two traditional dishes from Alpine cuisine known for their comforting character and rich flavours.
To start the meal, the menu includes traditional soups such as Fritattensuppe (beef broth with strips of pancakes and chives) and Knoblauchsuppe (garlic soup with croutons). Among the main dishes, highlights also include Zwiebelrostbraten (beef entrecôte with onion sauce served with sautéed potatoes and spring salad), as well as Erdäpfelgulasch, an aromatic potato goulash that represents a vegetarian option.
The experience ends with two classic suggestions from Austrian pastry tradition. Visitors can choose between Kaiserschmarrn, Austrian pancakes served with apple compote, and Germknödel, a sweet bun filled with plum jam, poppy seeds and vanilla sauce — desserts that reflect the country’s rich confectionery tradition.
The “Austrian Weeks” are an opportunity to discover the flavours of Austrian gastronomy in a space that recreates the atmosphere of traditional Central European biergartens. From the long communal benches to the murals depicting Bavarian daily life, and the interior clad with more than 120-year-old reclaimed wood, every detail contributes to transporting visitors to an authentic Alpine setting.
