Jenny Clarke, president of the Association for Protection of Animals Algarve (APAA), has just received news of an ‘abandonee’. “Her name is Emelia Joy, a beautiful 20-month-old German Griffon.”
Tricia in Silves is fostering Emelia who is waiting to be re-homed. “EJ was badly bullied, traumatised and, as a result, is sensitive and timid.” Why? Because someone, a human, from the ‘superior race of animals’ could. Indeed, this is a gentle, loving and loyal breed. Highly intelligent, energetic, good for a family or active owner.
Emelia is micro-chipped, sterilised and vaccinated. A perfect ready-to-go furry friend. She’s looking for a loving, encouraging, calm environment, with patience and kindness to build her confidence and enable her to become the dog she should be. Happy, content, a canine friend for life. Please help her wag her tail!
Jenny and her team at APAA are on the lookout for new members to help and give a little time when they can. “We offer full support to newcomers. We have fun events and opportunities to meet and greet with others in our community. It’s daunting moving to a new country, meeting new people, no matter how friendly it seems when you’re on holiday. But we’re here for the long haul. Working for and with animals can be more rewarding than people think!” Give it a try.
