A coastal fishing boat beached in the early hours of this morning off the coast of Sines, leaving all seven crew able to stagger ashore without serious injury.
The Trajano ran into trouble around four o’clock this morning.
The alert was sounded a little while later when a security guard for a biofuel production company reported that seven fishermen were ‘asking for help at the gate’.
A source for the Navy and National Maritime Authority said the men (who had walked soaking wet for roughly 3kms to find help) were transported at 5.28 am (a full hour later) in four ambulances to the Litoral Alentejano Hospital. By this time, they were all suffering from hypothermia.
The Trajano was later ‘located’ being tossed about in the surf near the Sancha lagoon (as per image above).
