This sparkling is made in the traditional method, with minimal intervention and no added sugar (brut nature) and is packed with flavor. It is a blend of mostly Baga and some Bical – two native Portuguese varietals well-known for their Bairrada heritage.
Expect a rich, pink-orange color and fine bubble, crisp acidity matched with a mineral salinity that expresses the fresh, Atlantic influence of the region.
And now that you’re thinking of changing things up, go one step further and serve this espumante in a white wine glass. Skip the flutes! A flute is classic and beautiful, but you may miss many of the aromas in your sparkling wines.
In this case, a flute captures the delicate bubbles, but you miss lovely fruit aromas like raspberries, pomegranate and floral notes which come through when exposed to more oxygen in the wider bowl of a white wine glass. The 3B Rosé would make a selection of shellfish sing, or enjoy as an aperitivo – just please skip the flutes.
Find the Filipa Pato 3B Rosé Brut Natur Espumante at Apolónia for €15.95.
