As rare as they are, a young Siamese cat is looking for a home. Along with a little black kitten.
Jenny Clarke has been busy renting out her backroom to a variety of abandoned cats. As President of the Association for Protection of Animals Algarve (APAA), she takes her job very seriously. “The lodgers have to share space with the extra stock from the Pop-Up Shops.” A grin broadens into a smile. “We have to keep the modus operandi but not in the criminal sense!”
There are a few new ideas for raising money. “We are trying out a ‘Murder Mystery Special’ lunch. If it goes well, we will certainly offer it as a regular event, a feature for around 10/12 guests.” The plot thickens.
Our intrepid ‘Pop-Up’ Shop girl and Ambassador for ‘Legacy for Pets’, Anita Wight, has come up with a whopping spectacular idea. Having too much time on her hands (not!), she has gathered together a group of people who want to put on a Variety Show. The funds raised will go to APAA. All in good paws! It promises to be a really wonderful event, with lots of seats to fill.
It’s all swings and roundabouts. A couple interested in our black kitten up for re-homing decided to adopt three cats from Cadela Carlota. That’s show business.
But on a more serious note, APAA’s Facebook has always up-to-date information on animals requiring re-homing. Jenny says: “Lisa, our Editor, beavers away to keep us on top of the ever-growing abandoned animals list, which changes almost daily. So please check our section out.
But always make sure you have your heart in the right place… a furry feline or canine friend is for life. First stop: check out Amigo!”

The change of season means a change of wardrobe. Look out for the real bargains. Some of the top-designer labels available at such reasonable prices. Also, the home-made chutneys, jams, marmalades, pickles and cookies. Yum!
