Spanish clay court specialist Rafael Nadal claimed a record seventh French Open men’s singles title overtaking the previous best mark held by Bjorn Borg. The world No2 did not drop a set during a rain-affected fortnight at Roland Garros until facing his nemesis Novak Djokovic in the final which he decided 4-1 in his favour over two days’ play, forcing the tournament to enter a third week for the first time since 1973.
