Rufete is a native Portuguese grape varietal, also known as Tinta Pinheira in the Douro and Dão regions. Rufete is more often a blending grape, so take this opportunity to try the varietal on its own.
This wine was made with gentle pumping over to extract color and flavor without harshness, and only 25% of the lot aged in new French oak, adding a touch of complexity to an otherwise fruit-forward red.
Expect aromas of plum, black cherry, cedar, cocoa, and light toast, with delicate tannins and smooth texture on the palate. Serve slightly below room temperature with roast pork tenderloin, grilled steak or aged sheep cheese.
